Self-Proclaimed’s second feature-length documentary, Duke & the King, premiered at this year’s Nashville Film Festival. It was also an official selection at the 14th Sidewalk Film Festival, and other festival screenings are to be announced in the coming weeks. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, co-directors Kris Wheeler & Wayne Franklin completed a rough cut in November 2011 and retooled the film in the two months prior to its premiere … to arrive at what viewers have dubbed “the world’s first docu-musical.” Read more on the film’s website or check out the trailer:
In 2010, SPE released our first feature-length documentary, Back from the Dread. Part concert film, part documentary, the film tells the story of the early years of Americana band Dread Clampitt. Essentially a film that was rescued from the “cutting room floor,” Dread is a surprisingly moving tale about the cost of pursuing one’s dreams against all odds.
